As we grow, we are looking for an experienced Leading Hand to lead and develop our team, ensuring that we continue to exceed expectations while maintaining a strong, collaborative culture.
 

Position Overview: As Leading Hand, you will play a key, hands-on leadership role in managing the day-to-day plug and mould production process. You will be directly involved in each stage of production, from the construction of EPS blocks to the final gel coating, lamination, and finishing. This is a leadership role where you will guide a team of skilled technicians, while also working alongside them on the production floor to maintain the highest quality standards. Your leadership will help foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Hands-On Production Oversight: Lead and participate in the construction, glassing, pasting, priming, and topcoating of EPS plugs. Ensure high-quality standards are met at every stage of production.

  • Mould Production Management: Oversee and assist with the gel coating, lamination, and detailed finishing work on moulds. Ensure that all moulds meet customer specifications and uphold Edencraft Creative’s reputation for quality.

  • Team Leadership & Development: Foster a positive, collaborative team culture. Lead by example on the production floor, providing hands-on guidance, mentoring, and development opportunities to team members.

  • Production Coordination: Plan, schedule, and monitor the daily operations of the production team. Ensure that resources are available, production runs smoothly, and deadlines are met.

  • Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections to ensure that all products meet required quality standards. Address any issues that arise promptly, ensuring the final product is of the highest quality.

  • Health and Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and ensure that all team members follow the necessary safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements in production processes, identifying and implementing strategies to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve output without compromising quality.

  • Maintain filing systems and ensure all records are properly documented.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Extensive hands-on experience in plug and mould making, particularly in EPS block construction, glassing, priming, topcoating, gelcoating, and lamination.

  • Proven leadership experience in a production environment, with a focus on team development and performance management.

  • Strong technical knowledge of the plug and mould production process, with a commitment to delivering top-quality results.

  • Ability to work closely with a team, offering guidance and training while maintaining a hands-on presence in the production process.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities.

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a workshop or manufacturing environment.

 

Desirable Skills: 

  • Experience working with composite materials and advanced mould-making techniques.

  • Ability to manage production schedules, allocate resources effectively, and optimise workflow.

  • A proactive, problem-solving approach with a focus on process improvement and efficiency.
